One of the most underrated Kings

CFlowers Apr 27, 2008 06:30 PM

I think Prairies are the most under rated kings out there. The albinos are so nice to look at. They have so many colors its hard to capture all the hues of green, yellow, orange, red, and pink.... they remind me of a opal. I wish more us worked with them I really think we got get some more morphs outta them if we tried a little harder.

Although I didn't take this pic myself, I did see this animal for sale at the Daytona show last year. The price tag seems a little too excessive for my liking though, but still a cool looking animal nonetheless.

WOW thats Awesome, if it was a male and I was rich I'd buy it.

There is the hypo, albinos are everywhere, stripes can be found and I have heard of anerys before....but not enough people are interested enough to keep them commercially viable. They suffer from the same problems that eastern milks do....it takes alot of time, energy, blood sweat and tears to do anything about it.Good luck,Jeff

what about outer banks? I have a few and their dispostion is a lot better than a Florida king.

I really like those sticticeps Charlie!, and you had some very nice examples that I saw!

The floridana aren't so bad, as long as you keep their mouths full of rodents so they're not attracted to your moving fingers!..LOL!!

Beautiful Prairie King CF. I agree that they are very underrated. Excellent feeders, perfect size.
What's the average price for hatchling albino prairie kings these days? If I ever find one at a show, I may pickup one or two.

IMO 30-40$ for a Albino is too low. Maybe 40 for a lone male...
Everyone prices are different though

derekdehaas Apr 28, 2008 10:31 AM

i got a female albino (07') for $30. i love these kings and i am looking for a male. yes it would be nice for some morphs. i love that hypo from the above post simply stunning!!

batrachos Apr 28, 2008 12:59 PM

I love prairies, too, but I don't care for morphs. the wild-type snakes are nice enough!

CrimsonKing Apr 28, 2008 01:54 PM

Well, it's low to me too but I couldn't "give 'em away" for that price a few years ago.
I'll make some more and see...

Make some more and give 'em all to me, Mark, lol! I hope to have some locality normal animals next year, I find them difficult to locate near me, the southern range is about 90 miles north of me and have seen several dor's in the last few years.

I agree thease are one of my fave snake that life in missouri in my area. the top three faves that I can find by fliping boards & stuff are black ratsnakes, prarie king snakes, & eastern yellow bellied racers. I do got a quiston though I will find out tomarrow if it ate I'm leaveing it alone for now but how do you get a hatchling P kingsnake to eat a pinky if it don't the area I found it in has ringnecks brown snakes and skinks and mice and voles along with garter snakes and closer to the river or water sourse race runners & water snakes what do you think it uslly eats where it lives? its probly 10in or so I'm going to take it back wen it warms up I was happy 2 find it cause that means there breeding there good snakes to have around all I wanna do is see if it eats and try to teach a few ppl about them they are just some mellow snakes
