Alright sooo. UPDATES!!!

tmontz06 Apr 27, 2008 11:35 PM

In the excitement of our new girl arriving on Tuesday, my husband and I did a little bit of re-organizing with our "snake room" (slash office). We set out today to get a water dish, UTH, a moon glo bulb and a hydro and thermo meter.... Ehh, about a $50 day.... We already had a 20 gallon tall tank that we were going to use for her until we could get a more suitable reptile enclosure.... BUT....

We came back with an entire set up. We even got a metal shelving unit to set both tanks up on with ample room for storage on the bottom, and enough space on the top for mice tubs. We got brand new heat lamps and UTH's for both tanks, because the ones I had before were hand me downs and they weren't worth a damn.

Not bad for an amateur herp set up.

My husband wants to try a hand at breeding in a few years. I don't know much about it, but I'm willing to learn.

Here's a few fun shots I took while I had the camera out. There are some which I took a few days ago, but hadn't ever done anything with... Enjoy!!

Medusa Anyone?? Oliver hanging out on my head!!

Nice shot of Oliver chillaxing!

Finally hit 500g!!!

Let me know what ya'll think of everything!!!

not a bad looking set-up at all but with lights and screen tops, pay extra attention to humidity especially around shedding time and you should be golden. Also if you don't have any clue about breeding, how did you get your husband to marry you? lol

I have 75w moon glo bulbs in there with coconut fibers for substrate and I have tin foil taped over the screen tops to keep humidity in, with a hole cut for the lamp. I mist twice a day and during shedding time, I do shed ease baths and mist an extra couple of times. The system I have keeps me looking at the animals at minimum twice a day and it really does wonders with keeping the levels correct. It has taken me a bit of tweaking but I got it down pretty well.

My husband has never been an animal person PERIOD, and when I talked to him about getting my first BP (Oliver) he looked at me like I was nuts. He has not touched nor held the the snake, but is very interested in breeding them (the $$$). Again, I don't know much about breeding or what kind of money is in it, but whatever.. lol!!!

Thanks for looking!!

Magicalmorphs is right; that's a really nice shot. Too bad the one of him in your hair isn't in better focus; that one is funny.

LOL! Thanks, I thought it was pretty cute, hubby wasn't too excited... He won't even touch the snakes, but wants to breed.... (go figure... $$$$)

Maybe I should start doing some snake photography and sell it... could be a neat on the side job!!

I predict, in the near future, you scrapping the tanks and building a rack...
