lighting and heating...

whats best, uth or above heating? also, should i use any light at all? or just indirect light of windows?

No light is necessary. Corn snakes are mainly nocturnal. In addition amels and snows are sensitive to bright light. An under the tank heater is really all you need - indirect light is fine.

Thanks for the advice. What is the best basking temp? I have seen sources saying 80-85, others saying 85-90.

My hotspot is somewhere in the middle of those two gradients: 84-88 degrees.
