yeeeeeeeeeha! Louisiana pinesnake eggs

daveb Apr 28, 2008 02:02 PM

Just did a quick peek in on my girls. one is laying (soon) and one finished laying. Yahooooooooo! Our sixth consecutive year producing eggs, and we're thankful for all the great experiences. This is the best time of the year for me. I love eggs and I love incubation. Kind of dorky but what can I say.

Great news and I definitely agree with Phil, nice looking snakes!

John,
the first one is a holdback from the pair I got from you in '02.
The '02 female unexpectedly passed away two weeks after she laid her clutch of eggs in '06. No visible problems, nothing on necro, just there one moment and gone the next. That was a major upset. She was hot.

However the '02 male is a beast. Great looks and he's a big one. I mentioned in an earlier post ( about the girls preferring smaller males) that I had one "big pair" that acted like an old couple every spring. That would be "your" male and a big old girl I got from Terry Vandeventer as a hatchling in '99. There's no pushing or shoving. Just hello, how are you, its time to do our thing, hope to see you next year. lol.

Keep me informed on how the locality mugitus do for you this season. I am really itching to try some good looking het for nothing locality mugiuts!

CHEERS!

Those are really nice Dave.
Using a hatching medium that you can sell afterwards to help cover costs is a creative idea also. LOL Randy W.

sustainability is the name of the game!

...or keeping your head above water by any means...I guess it depends on your point of view, lol.

Congrats! The 2006 La. pines I got from you are eating machines. They look big enough to breed now but I'll wait another year or two.

Thanks Russ.

Did your black pines lay yet? If so, how many eggs did you get?

Not yet. The larger one shed on Sat. and the other one is still in shed. I'll try to get photos.
