A Chuckwalla. We saw a few of these guys. My friends were going after a Desert Spiny on his rock so this guy would pop out to see what all the commotion was about. I was lying on my stomach above him when I took the pic.

Desert Iggies were all over the place. My daughter had never seen one, so we let her check out this guy before we released him w/ a neat story to tell the other Desert Iggies about two-legged giants in shiny metal rolling boxes.

Hoping and praying to get down to clarus phase territory in June, and find one. My buddy found one in March on a road where we usually see nothing but Crotes (Specks & Sidewinders).
2 years ago went down south w/ the specific intent of finding one, which I did, but it was a DOR! Ouch! That sucked.

What type of snakes are those? The first 3 look like Glossy markings.

Excellent post, Reako! That Cal King is a smoker!

Congratulations on your little herper/helper. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to accompany me in my herping forays.

I was just really glad for her to see alot of stuff that I'd seen a bunch of times, but were lifers for her. I asked her if she'd ever seen a Desert Iggy before and she said "No", and it sort of brought it all home, that most of the stuff I take for granted are lifers (and hopefully lifelong memories) for my 9 year old.
