thin bearded

adamig Apr 28, 2008 08:35 PM

i think it might be one of two things, i was hoping for some input. i bought a hyposandfire from dragons den and hes been eating but only 5-10 crickets a day with very little greens.i do have another bearded which is bigger and they are both males. the larger male displays head bobbing while the smaller arm waves. the conditons as far as heating and uvb are sufficient having raised other beardeds in the tank that hes in. both lizards are i sepperate tanks due to the size diff.i also think he may have some parasites. his poo is solid in the dark parts but the white part is never solid and sometimes hell poo just the white part with no black/brown dark part. do you think i should seperate them totally from each others sight and should i get a fecal. thanks for any help. basking area 110 to 120 on the surface air right behind area roughly 100f.

I had some trouble gettin the beardie to eat greens at first, If you want it to eat greens you'll either have to "force" it to eat greens by annoying it with them until it eats or dont feed it crickets for a couple days just pile in the greens if he's hungry he'l eat it. For the fecal, def. remove it so your others dont get parasites, just in case. I would def. bring it to a vet just to check. good luck.

poop sounds fine... the urates don't have to be a solid hard block of chalk..but can be soft or even liquid. Lots of liquid (clear) indicates good hydration in the dragon. Soft or runny 'brown' poop indicates parasites more often then not.

Just get the other male out of sight of the little one...if the little one is displaying arm waving it is being submissive, which could explain why it isn't eating as much as it should.

It doesn't hurt to get a fecal done anyway..worse it can do is come out clean and waste $25 of your money..best, it can catch something that does need to be treated before it becomes a serious problem.
