my chubby frog still wont eat!! i dont know what to do and im so scared that he is going to become ill. i have tried small crickets and red wigglers. i even put him in a critter cage with the insects to see if he will eat them and he just gets really scared of them when they get close to him. i put some crickets in his cage to, but i dont really like to do that cuz im scared that he will swallow some moss or dirt with them. he hasnt eatin them either. im so worried about him and i dont know what to do for him. any suggestions would be really great!!

Hm.... I have a theory but you will have to try force feeding him to see if its the problem. Try forcefeeding it and if pukes post. I may know whats wrong...

Just get scared?Do they puff up?mine gets that way sometimes,How big is your enclosure?

maddierose Aug 30, 2003 04:28 PM

yes he gets scared and when i put him in the critter cage he backs up into the corner and puffs up. i have him in a 10 gallon with about 3 inches of dirt and moss for him to burrow into. do you think thats big enough. he doesnt really move much. he just finds a place to burrow and just sits there all day.

Yes thats fine.Dont feed him in a critter keeper just dropp a few crickets into his cage where he feels comfortable. If hes changed to a critter keeper he wont eat because he feels like hes in a new enviorment.

Your frog is probably stressed out with the new enviroments and constant changing. My pacman frog eats a little bed-a-beast with his crickets because of his lunges, and I try to stop it by putting the crickets in his shallow water bowl. So far, all the bed-a-beast has been coming out in his feces. I'm a little worried about impaction, but it's been weeks, and I think he cleans out his system with the crikets he eats.

Bed A Beast is a natural substance and is easier on a frogs system. It passes easily and there are less worries unlike with gravel or moss. It is, after all, only cocoanut fiber.
