finaly did it!

I've been keeping corns for a year now, and reading all the stories about people loosing snakes. I really never thought it'd happen to me! DUH! It did.
I built a new baby rack about a month ago, and it's been working great, but one of my 4 cats decided to play with one of the boxes and pushed it out so it was open about 1/4 inch. Sure enough, that baby is gone now

It was yesterday when i noticed the cage opened a bit, and I just pushed it back in and walked away. I thought i saw him in there. I guess what I saw was his shed skin. He's about 20" or more right now, hatched on may 13th, and it's about meal time now. So i'll be trying all the "food traps" and things to find him. But I'm wondering what the chances are that my cats would think of him as a tasty snack? I figure if they found it they'd at least play with it, but would they eat it? Also, alot of my heating vents are on the floor, all they've been blowing is a/c so they aren't warm and cozy, but would he maybe crawl in them to get away from the cats? and if he did, what are the chances he'll come out alive? There's just not a big chance of him living very long in here with all these cats, one of which is only 5 months old, so extremely playful, and the other three are veteran hunters.

Argh! I guess I'm just sort of venting, I feel like he's already gone for good

Well, what you need to do now is pay A LOT of attention to your cats, they just might be ur snakes only key to survival or maybe death. (Although I never heard of a cat killing a snake) Just watch where your cat goes, it might pick up a scent from the snake and might look for it....so follow along, carry a flash light with u at all times too i guess...well just keep one near you. If I were you, I would try my best to stay at home all day for maybe a day? By the way, what kind of home do you live in? A house (with basement)?, apartment? If you live in a house, try bring your cats to the basement too....maybe they could help you find your snakes before they can do any harm to them? Because remember, snakes usually like to hide in dark places and in tight spots, which ur cat might not be able to reach =) Well that's just my opinion and from what I have read on this forum, I hope this helps you

Good luck!

no, still no sign of him. The day he disappeared the main door was open a lot, with at least a 1/4 inch of space between the screen door and the floor, so I'm thinking he made it outside. If so, he's probably under my house. I'm in a mobile home, an old one. I do still have 5 of his siblings, and his mom, I just worry about him surviving a cold MN winter. But I'll keep my eyes peeled for him, and hopefully he'll somehow make it back into my sight and I can get him back into his cage.
