I currently own a leopard gecko and would like to expand and add a veiled chameleon to my "collection". How large exactly should a comfortable tank size be?? They get water from drops on leaves like anoles right?,
Thanks

From all of the information i have seen about chameleons it says that chams should not be kept in tanks. A much better enclosure for a cham is a screen cage, i think they are called reptariums. The reason for this is because tanks are not ventilated enough and eventually in most cases the cham ends up with a respiratory infection. For an adult veiled i think the minimum enclosure size should be 2'x2'x4'. 4 feet being the height.
Chameleons are a lot different than leos. I would recomend that you do A LOT of research before you purchase a chameleon. Search google or yahoo for caresheets, and I would talk to breeders at a reptile show before you get one. Chamelons need an all screen cage, you can make one yourself, buy one, or as the previous post stated buy a repterium (they are made of a black cloth screen) They need uv lights, special humidity, drippers, lots of plants, and spacious cages. A Veiled would make a great first cham. Research a lot and don't hesitate to post questions here before you get your new cham. Good luck!
I knew about this screen cage, the uv light and the drippers, I was coontimplating a veiled and could not accomadate it at that time so i got a leo.
you can try a visit to my website, i've got a detailed care section, all about veileds.
