My buddy took the pics so I will apologize up front, he hasnt gotten them to me yet. But the truth is....not much to take a pic of there. We went into the swamp through the park, went on a hour guided boat tour around the swamp....not much for the results...
In case you dont know(like I didnt remember)more than half the swamp burned last year. So much of it burned, half the size of the state of RI, there wasnt much to see a year later. The park entrance was still nice, but on both sides of the road serious evidence of the burn were obvious. The water level is still pretty far down too, but the boat got through and are "all too bright" swamp guide drank the water...
Animals? No fish, no insects, no frogs, little vegetation. We did see several big cooters and several gators in the swamp. We saw a racer on the path to the herp museum. But the place was desolate, and will take years to come back. I had first seen pictures of Joe Martinez' trip there in 1975 and that slide show Joe did got my joy of herping hooked deep. Too bad I didnt have the same results as he did.
