What followed me home from Daytona...

larryskeepers Aug 30, 2003 02:12 PM

Well after a few months of research and careful planning this is what followed me home from daytona. I was told that he is an Aru locality but then i was also told that localities are BS soooo either way this is little Zap. I dont think i care what he looks like when he grows up he has found a special home here and i just cant wait to see his colors come through. He has been settling in nicely these last two weeks and im happy to report that he has eaten every week just like a champ... Thank you guys for all your help and comments...

PS Jungle, good luck with your new pretty little girl... i still like your Aru the best even after seeing all the ones at the show.

Very pretty little one you picked up!

As far as locality claims, the majority of "locality pure" and "locale specific" claims ARE BS. Very few people have animals with documentation to prove they originated from a specific locality.

However, there are locality TYPES, and that could possibly be what the seller on little Zap was referring to(but it could have been a dealer passing a BS line just as readily to make a sale). There are phenotypical traits that most people look for when assessing locality type animals that are phenotypically similar to the wild populations they are named after(for example, Aru-type, Biak-type, etc.).

But as you said, regardless of the real locality/pedigree/whatever Zap is a very pretty looking chondro!!!
