This is about a 6 or 7 month old who has been eating fine the time we have had him,,, on Sunday we switched him over to rats and also got a new cage. He threw up about half the rat on tuesday night, so it was about 3 days after we fed him the rat, anyone have any ideas?,,, hopefully now parasites

Not sure what it is but do not attempt to feed him again for at least two weeks, If there is a chance to take a fecal sample into the vet I would do so.. Did you change substrate also? Did you get the rat from the same place you usually get your mice from? I read somewhere that some snakes have alerigic reactions to rats, not sure where I will look around and see.. maybe someone else can chime inhere..

yeh its really weird, hes always been good with eating, I didnt change the substrate and I did get the rats from another person.

I had a similar issue with a borneo shot tail. I took him to a vet and he checked out with no parisites. I ended up reducing his warm spot from 89 to 84 and meals to about a third normal size for a couple of feedings then a little larger. He is now up to 3/4 size and has not regurgitated in six feedings. CM

Most important is not to offer food for two weeks, try a smaller rat, if it happens again I would go back to mice.But always wait the two weeks.
