"Paradox" Genes/traits/abnormalities???

ZFelicien Apr 30, 2008 01:09 PM

Where can I find info on "Paradox" expressions in genes?

-The Actual term for "paradox" ( incomplete expression?)

-Why it occurs?

-Is it Genetic (or spontaneous)?

ANY info is appreciated (links), info to this phenomenon in other reptiles/animals, etc...

Thanx

Hey Zenny!,.......yeah,....the strange paradox mutations are a real "tough nut" to crack, or really begin to understand...which(as you know) is why they're called "paradox" in the first place.LOL!!

I haven't been able to get a handle on anything "solid" about this phenomenon either, it just seems to be one of those things that have no rhyme, or reason. All I think anybody really knows about this, is that it does happen from time to time. Another funny thing that ALWAYS goes along with it, is the fact that it is a totally random expression as well, targeting whatever area, or color, or part of the pattern.

Remember that crazy looking nelsoni a while back on the "milk" forum?.....weird!

Speaking of weird,...check out these pics of my buddies so-called "bloodred" corn!!..LOL!

I think that a certain portion of the dynamics of how genetics actually works will continue to be a huge mystery for quite some time, if not forever.

take care Zenny, ~Doug

Thanx 4 the info Doug...

SUPER COOOOOOOOL looking Corn! What gene is it expressing? Anery?

What's he done with it? has he tried breeding it to the homozygous mutation it's expressing? it'd be cool to see the results!

Is that Honduran from Guy Clark's "Crazy line" ... I want a pair of those SOOOOO bad!

I'll keep digging into this "paradox" phenomena... I hope to see white-sides with hypo, lavender, PB, T-, or Axanthic/Anery Patches some day! or vice-versa.... all the above with WHITE patches!!! (a man can dream right... lol)

thanx again for the info and the pix

To tell you the truth Zenny, I forgot exactly what the genotype lineage is behind that corn without researching it again. I think I have it written down somewhere. It looks pretty "ghosty" underneath doesn't it?, probably just the anery B showing through as you mentioned without any diffused red in the voided area....weird!

The bizarrely marked aberrant Honduran is from a friend I've known for a long time, him and his sibs have all had some strange looking patterns. I can't wait to get them of age!!!...they are totally "kick-ass" looking in my opinion!

Anyway, yeah!,...I've seen that "Crazy" line he has, and there is some pretty weird stuff goin' on there. Another thing that's sort of crazy about them is the price tag.....ouch!..LOL!, but they ARE extremely cool and unique, I must admit.

take care!, ~Doug

It was bred to another similar background animal already(obviously not a pied freak though..LOL!), and the male son was later "back-bred" to her with no "pied" results ......oh well, what can ya do!
