O/T...Texas blind snakes....

magicalmorphs Apr 30, 2008 03:32 PM

A friend brought a Texas blind snake or thread snake to work the other day. Has anyone here ever seen or kept them? I did a little research. They're really cool looking tiny snakes smaller than a earthworm. They eat ant larva and termites. Just wanted to know if anyone had any experience keeping them. Thanks!
Chris

Hi ! Yes they are very hard to keep in captivity , the hardest ting is getting there pray , and then getting them to take it ,as it is herd to keep introducing termite nest and ant egg chambers into there habitat without stressing them . It can be done but it can easily become a fulltime job just to keep them healthy . We had some at the zoo I worked at but I had no part in there day to day care . David
