Yellow or Red

Anselmo1 Apr 30, 2008 05:18 PM

Hello,

This may sound like a stupid question but can someone please classify this Blood as a Red or Yellow Phase Blood Python?

What I am planning on doing is getting a male that would pair up for some colorful babies. If you do breed a yellow to a red what type of litter would you produce? 1/2 and 1/2?

She may not be the best looking blood but I would love to breed her for her calm disposition. She was absolutely tame from a baby and has yet to strike at me and does not mind being held for long periods of time. She has been my pet for a few years and it would be a shame if I didn't breed her.

If you are a NY resident and/or watch Martha Stewart you probably know of Marc Marone from Parrots of the World. This snake was the one he used on the "Family Pet" lol

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Eric

I agree nice yellow, Reds and yellows throw a little of each, but pairing up another good looking male yellow with her definatley will get you some great looking yellow offspring.

Thank you for the responses.

I appreciate all of the information. It is funny because at first she was a little more red and then recently is turning more towards the yellow.

I am going to get a nice yellow male and cross my fingers

Thank you again,

Eric

If I did breed her with a red male how would the offspring turn out? 1/2 and 1/2 or mixed?

Thank you

I believe you would get a gradient across the clutch, yellows, mixes and reds. I know Rich C. has some good info on percentages...
