An Idea For Toad Scenting..... A Way To Avoid Parasite Transmission with WC Feeders

LeosAnonymous Aug 30, 2003 02:50 PM

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you have tried boiling a pk toad and using the juice for scenting.

Right now I'm boiling a toad for 10 mintues in my microwave inside a coffee cup filled with just enough water to cover the toad.

Ten minutes of boiling should be enough to kill any parasites that may be inside the toad and it avoids having to freeze them for a month before using them to scent.

Let me know what you guys think.

Freezing them is the best way to kill all parasites. Then thaw the toad out and scent. Boiling them my just cook them right up!

I definitely agree with you about freezing being the best way, it's just that the month wait was too long in this instance.

I actually boiled the toad in the microwave yesterday and it created quite a nice "soup", then I soaked the pinks in the juice/water for a couple minutes.

When I offered my 4 trouble feeders the soaked pinks two of them ate. Hopefully the other 2 will come around.

I'm sure she appreciates the toad soup. LOL

I hear the blended method does not go well with wives eather.
Especially if they like to have margaritas and smoothies.

Well, if guys would make their own coffee and margaritas and let the women tend to the snakes, we wouldn't have a problem, would we? :P
