I am impressed with pro-exotics

dekaybrown Apr 30, 2008 09:18 PM

Since my last post was bombarded with naysayers, I have not posted since, However I do lurk and read a lot.

I must say that I am VERY impressed with the fact that pro-exotics seems to read and respond to MANY posters. (no small feat when running a business of that magnitude)

Those of you who have condemned our monitor to certain death just because 99 percent of the people who get one eventually kill it with improper or lack of husbandry should try and understand that every once in a while someone from the 1 percent who succeed or have what it takes to fit into that one percent may post and feel a little jilted when slammed with negatives and derogatory comments.

The same exact (and very sad) atrocity occurs with Iguanas every day. Just log onto utube and watch all the imbeciles do wrong by the lizard and think it's funny to watch an Iguana who is obviously starving eat pinkies!

I'd love to talk monitors all day long, but I would prefer to do so with folks who can have somewhat of a positive attitude.

Regards,
Wayne A. Harvey

thanks for the support. i think it is important to have a presence here, to participate in the exchance and discussion, and to not only support new keepers, but challenge them in their choices, husbandry and decision making.

i don't know what your thread issue was in the past, but i can guarantee you that LOTS of folks here, including the most frequent posters, are just as passionate about giving monitor lizards great setups and a great healthy future, as you might be about preventing iguanas and others from being disposable pets.

there are many forums out there dominated with "what is a good name for my lizard" type of posts, we don't need another. this forum, and a few others, are more for practical use. i suppose for a new viewer, it is not as "butt-kissing" and there is certainly not as much hand holding, back patting, reassuring, and "awwwww, so cute!" posts, but we don't need any more of that either.

good challenging discussion, advancement of husbandry and monitor theory, that is a better goal : )

if you had your feelings hurt in the past, that is seldom the intention, let's stay focused on the animals, and less the personalities : )

best of luck with your animals, and again, thanks for the support, we really are busting our butts over here, doing the best possible job, on multiple fronts.
