Guess the old TV is gonna live on....

Novice_Charmer May 01, 2008 02:23 PM

After a quick$65 house call by a tech who told me it would cost more money to fix than the TV was worth,I decided I was bound by duty as a true herp freak to let it live out it's days as some type of enclosure.Basically after I gutted it,I needed only to cover up the hole in the floor and to put a make a new rear cover ( for what I'm still not sure). There is a HUGE mirror mounted to the back panel at a 45 degree angle that I plan on leaving in there,I think it would be interesting to be able to see whatever finds it's way in there from both sides.I'm going to grab a rattle can of black paint tomorrow at Wally's and color the wood and the metal brackets inside to match the rest of the wood. One thing that may work in my favor, is that there is a "track" of sorts that goes all the way around the perimeter of the opening that the screen used to mount in,so I think I'm gonna use that for some sliding plexiglass doors.I guess if that doesn't work out,I will mount some hinges to it somehow and make some swinging doors.i still haven't decided how I'm going to add heat to it yet,but I guess first I will have to decide what I'm going to keep in it.I REALLY like the idea of a GTP but I think it being in the house will be too much of a high traffic area for one.Maybe some veiled chameleons of some beardies? Any of you guys have any thoughts, suggestions, comments??I'm open to just about anything at this point since it's not completed as of yet and since I had the plywood already here, this build has cost me zero $$ at this point.Tomorrow after paint I will be into it about a buck so far! I still have to clean up the front panel and the speaker cover, but I have thrown in a few before and during pics.

... like a GTP, the chams, or maybe some crested geckos... would look neat with some foliage mixed in too!

sweet idea!
