question about cultures..... help!

i bought a culture today already with flies but i'm trying to make some 'backups'. i have the mix and yeast and all but how much yeast do i put in and how soon do i put flys in it to start the culture? also do i put some yeast on teh bottom the 'stuff' and some on top of it?

I'm not sure where you got your medium, but most come with instructions.

Most you mix with a equal amount of water in the container your are going to use. So for a quart mason jar use 1/3 medium and 1/3 water. Then on top sprinkle just a small pinch of active yeast, and then add flies.
