2 new hogs

chenderson421 May 03, 2008 06:54 PM

I plan on getting 1.1 new hogs this season.. i just want 1.1 normal western hogs ( wc or cb ) either way doesnt really matter to me.. as long as they are young and eat well (i want to breed them eventually). anyways i was planning on keeping them both in a 50 gal aquarium with a glass divider i made seperating it into 2 equal sized enclosures with the heat pad under the center.. where the hot spot of both enclosures are right next to each other. I just wanted to know if anyone sees any problems with this or if it seems like it would work.

mounting a heat pad on the bottom of a glass tank is a very risky move especially with hogs. i would suggest doing some more reserch on the proper husbandry skills for the species ur interested in.
good luck

ok.. as far as not using uth on the bottom of a glass tank... i have been doing it for years.. ive never had more than 4 or 5 snakes at a time and i have always kept them in display aquariums rather than tubs and i have used uth on all as well... i just like to be able to see them when they are out and about and i like the way they look. and as for as "proper husbandry skills" for a wester hog... unless your talking about keeping them next to each other, seperated only by a piece of glass, im not sure what you are talking about. i have always kept the hot spot in my hogs tanks at about 83 - 88, and the cool side about 75. since i keep my house at about 69 - 72 during the summer i will be using a uth on a thermostat as well as a heat light ( turned off at night )to keep the tanks the "proper" temps.. so... please tell me what research i need to do on western hogs.. or rather than being short with me... help me out, after all i thought that is what this forum was for.
