snake diseases

brick1 May 03, 2008 07:06 PM

was just wondering if there was any disease issues relating from the snakes that can be put on to us? i mean of course i wash my hands, for a few reasons, one i want to make sure i dont pass anything from one snake to another, and so that i do not smell like food when handling. But was just wondering if needed to know anything else, or be careful of? and do people use disenfictent cream etc to wash there hands with.

also though would mention, that young brb, where i felt some lumps in him, well they seem to have gone, or at least moved much further down him and got much much smaller. Guess was some impacted food or something, and was just taking longer to digest, do snakes ever get constupation?

cheers

They can carry Salmonella, but I don't know how they get it or how they transmit it, but I do know to wash up and never put your fingers in your mouth or touch food after the touching a snake (DUH). That's the only one I'm aware of... I'd be curious to know if there are more.
