ahh still deciding whether to buy a rack of make my own. Have found some good enough tubs after a fairly extensive search. Measurements are roughly in inches, 40D x 20W x 8H, however would this be big enough for an adult? and how much should height or each tub play into my calculations.

cheers

That sounds very close to the size tub that I keep my adult BRBs in. It works very well for me. Even my biggest male, Flax, seems comfy in his tub. He spends 99% of his time crammed in his moss hide or water tub anyway, lol.

I know Dave has mentioned his concerns about the movement of the tub in and out of the rack possibly disturbing gravid females. This concerns me too, but I believe it can be done with care. I will be buying some 4'x2' Boaphile cages soon to keep my adult females in, mostly for that reason though. Someday when I have more room, I'd love to give my males the luxury of Boaphiles.

I do have one possibly gravid girl still in a tub. I just limit my checks to a few times a week, rather than every day for her. I want to disturb her as little as possible, so we shall see how it goes.

LOL, I seem to have gone off on a tangent. I hope the answer to your question is in there somewhere.

I have NO experience with this, but I know that some believe that females have an easier time with birth if they have space to roam. Has to do with keeping the muscle tone up and making it easier to push out the babies. Just some food for thought!

yeah i have my big black cages, seen in a previous post. And i will keep at least 4 of them. Im never going to have more than 4 clutchs a year i wouldnt think, as much as i would like to. Just for the fact that there isnt the market here to sell on that many offspring.

im planning on using a Helix Controls DBS 1000 Proportional Thermostat if i can get find one that has a european plug and wattage. Then i was thinking of heat cable, or at least trying it first, as that would make it much more easy to control and run one piece thru the whole structure. Can definetely change to heat mats, if not working right. Found a really good instrutions for making a CB70 rack on baileysreptiles website so will probably use that as my base

Just make sure whatever material you use is waterproof, the high humidity will trash most wood based materials.

And that tub size is very similar to Iris CB110's. I use them for all my adult racks. Very good size for any adult BRB and like Aubrey said, IMO tubs are not good for gravid females!!

Oh yeah, one other point, if the tub has "feet", watch routing across the whole shelf as the "feet" can hang up in the slot. I've ordered in four new AP racks and they're coming with dual 11" side heat. Plastic so no worry about humidity, no routing of the shelves so no foot catching.
