baby died : (

tbone21 May 04, 2008 10:23 AM

Had my first egg hatch early and I am guessing he hatched right after i checked the containers last because when i checked them before I went to bed there was a dead baby in the cup.
I was upset because this is my first time breeding and that was my first hatchling.

I'm sorry for your loss but i wouldnt let this discourage you too much. sometimes this happens but it is rare, that a gecko will hatch and die. normally it will have a large amount of undigested yolk still attached and typically i think those animals more commonly die in the egg right before they hatch. sad, i know, but probably just a fluke and sometimes you get weird stuff when it is a females first eggs. Just double check incubation temps and moisture content to make sure you did your part right. the rest is up to them. Better luck on the next eggs
