I am interested in a side by side comparison pic of a eastern and nonredsided plains garter snake. im trying to see the differeces. can anyone help me out? thanks

Chris, here is a series of photos.

The Eastern Variety has an olive dorsal stripe (spine) and the plains Garter has cheddar orange.

All other markings are nearly identical.

A couple of differences:

Plains garters have obvious black edging to the lip scales while Easterns have little or no black edging.

Plains garters have the lateral line on the 3rd and 4th scales rows up from the belly scales while Easterns have the lateral line on the 2nd and 3rd scale rows.
