Sav. Hatchling

Here is what I have and can get, you think I am ready to get a Savannah?

Lighting:
Also, I got a lot of lamps and could probably find a tube fixture. I got about 4 lights (infrared light, 2 MV and 1 ceramic heat emitter) I could use them have UVB everywhere and put two of those temperature stats.

Feeding:
I have mealworms and I can get crickets. I have a pet store close by and I can go there and get mice and pinkies almost every week (when I can't I will buy a lot of crickets and mice).

Habitat:
I have a lot of branches and could put them in for him to use for basking. I have a good water dish. I have a 38 gallon and a 175 gallon. I can get a hold of a 260 gallon. The only problem here is I don't exact know if I should use dirt and sand together or eco-earth and sand. Should I do something else?

Afterwords:
Size may be a probably in the end I need to talk my parents into it. I would need to get a tame baby for my parents to even think about it.

[COLOR="DarkRed"]Also, are Sav. even legal in CT? I really need this to be answered because if not then most likely I can't get one.

Thanks for reading my thread and please reply fast guys.

I think you should keep doing some more research.

check out our site for the Sav caresheet, and our monitor FAQ.

definitely get the Sav book by Bennett. for just over 10 bucks, it has all the answers you need, in detail.

you are KINDA on the right track, but at the same time, teetering on being completely off track.

get the book.

best of luck.

Once the savannah monitor gets big then aquariums dont work that well because of the need for such a large size and the screen tops let out to much humidity.... Usually should build some sort of cage or use stock tank... and also you mentioned getting a tame baby as a baby they should be active and feisty or there might be something wrong and if the only way you can have one is it being tame then i would say dont get one there is always a chance of monitor always wanting to bite or hate you and you should still want him. also look on the forum depending on what you consider "tame" because there is alot of controversy and alot of topics discussed on it.

I'sa you are WAY,WAY off track if you have to talk your parents into it. Once you figure out exactly what it takes to support a good sized monitor like a savanna and you begin to explain these things to your parents, my geuss is, the answer will be a big fat NO.

Careful with the mercury vapor lamps. They may pack too much of a uv wollop for a hatchling if improperly used.
Are they flourescent of incandecent?

Go here: http://www.uvguide.co.uk
Its the best place for uv light info on the web.
cheers
