F1 Western Costa Rican Boas BORN TODAY!!

JaredHorenstein May 04, 2008 04:59 PM

All I can say is wow...........am I pleased with the results...

These are the first F1 Western Costa Rican Boas born in captivity in the United States from unrelated founder stock originating from the 2005 CITES permitted shipment. I had been talking with Chris Gilbert about these as he also has a pair from the same 2005 Group of which he also has a gravid female.....his are also due any day now and will represent only the 2nd litter ever produced of these amazing little snakes....it will be interesting to see how his babies turn out as well as future pairings.

enough jibber jabber..........heres the babies....

the Numbers are: 13 total births, 2 slugs, 1 still born, 1 badly kinked baby, 9 perfect babies.

Here are some photos from right after the birth

The Stillborn baby....

Here are some pics after getting them cleaned up...I am really impressed with the color in these snakes..

Love their heads too.....

BRandon,

I have always been a boa addict........even if I was playing with my balls......lol....that just sounds bad...

There is surely more to come...I have an exciting litter of Nicaraguan boas due in 2 1/2 months too...

Congratulations on being first to produce these boas. They look very colorfull? Did any having the striping like the mother? It will be very interesting to see photos of these as they grow.

Bill,

They are super colorful.......I really cant wait for them to shed now. There were two babies in the litter that had aberrant patterns like mom...and one of those has a small bit of reverse striping in the tail. I will post up good individual pics once they all shed...
