Mating?

tj_sa1816 May 04, 2008 05:29 PM

So I have an albino female and a normal male(?) I am not sure if the normal is a male because nothing is very pronounced. I mean by looking at it I would guess its a female so i put them to together after about two days my albino who is definately female had all kinds of damage when I got home from work. The kind of damage that looks common with aggresive mating so i seperated the two and am waiting for signs of any eggs. I have three questions: How soon would eggs begin to show if gravid? Is it possible that at almost two years old the male doesnt really show the physical male signs? Would a female tear up a larger female? I will post pictures today hopefully. Thanks for any help.

Females will def. pick on one another even if they are smaller. Some females that are incubated at higher temps show male behavoir and like to "buly" other females (and males) these are called "hot females". I was sure one of my females was a "hot" because she would bully all of my gecko including my male. But one day she was pregums so I guess some hots breed. But the eggs should start becoming defined within about 4-6 weeks. There pretty easy to easy, big white masses in the middle of the stomach. You can also flip her over and look at her ovum if it is inflamed them she is in her breeding period and your female just might be male. Does the other gecko have bulge or femoral pores? Ive never heard of a male not having at least one of the two. For incubating I would just look on a breeders site, I would suggest ron tremper. Its pretty easy, simplest egg ive ever dealt with. Good luck, keep us posted on the issue. Im curious

There is no bulge and no more "v" of pores than my definate female. This isn't my first set of leos i am used to sexing them but I hadn't yet run into a "bully" female. That is why I am so confused. I will keep you posted Here are the pictures I was told that my albino may hold some CT traits.

and just for fun here are my monitors

Your albino is very pretty. Awwww, I love monitors they are so adorable. The young one is obviously a Savannah but the larger monitor is a ??? They are very gorgoues. Im jealous. I only have beardies geckos and iguanas.

The larger monitor is a blackthroat. They (monitors) are awseome if you have the space, time, patience and a separate bank account just for feeding, otherwise the stress to the monitor and you can be awful. You can literally watch them think. I love that bright beardie you have there its awesome. How many leos you got?
