Chuck eggs too. lol

tgreb May 04, 2008 07:52 PM

Here is a clutch of 7 redtail chuck eggs laid Friday. Mlove if the eggs do not expand and become rigid they are probably no good. Did she lay in a nest box with damp medium or just spread them in the cage? The off color of the one makes me think it may be infertile. Stick them in the incubator at about 90f and see what happens. Good luck and keep us posted.

Congrats on the red tail eggs! If I'm ever able to free up the room for another chuck tank, those guys will be at the top of my list.

A big congrats on your beautiful eggs! I was not expecting Tiny to lay eggs this year since she was hatched in 2006 so I did not make her a lay box. She laid two of the eggs on sand and one in her food bowl. They could not have been there more than an hour before I found them. I'm incubating the eggs just in case but I have a sad feeling that they are not good. Thanks for your help and advice.

Tom, are your red backs making eyes at each other yet? LOL!

I thought she was gravid and would lay before the redtail but nothing. I think I can palpate small eggs if her which leads me to believe they may be infertile. If they are this is the second year in a row the male did not do his part. Tom

Are planning to sell any of your chucks after they've hatched? I just recently lost my chuckwalla (after having spent 14 years with him), and the emptiness of his cage is becoming quite depressing.

Hi Shively
I do but all these guys are pretty much spoken for. Are you looking for one just for a pet? Does it matter if it is male or female? Give me some details and I will keep you in mind as sometimes I have people offer them to me as rescues or they just get tired of them.
