I can tell you what worked for us. Iggi was kept in an enclosure (100 gallon), for the first six months. We bought her as an iglet, about 6 months old. We would put her in to poop, and at night to sleep. We give her a bath daily, and she uses the tub, most mornings. She has been a free roamer now about 2 years. If she doesn't go in the tub, she will go outside, when we take her for her afternoon exercise outside. We didn't really have to train her. It is natural for them to poop in water.
