Care sheets for lineaticollis?

DanW May 05, 2008 05:01 PM

Are there any good care sheets for lineaticollis? Are they sensitive to heat above 80 F? Do you need to feed them lightly or are they pigs?

Thanks,
Dan

Search the forums here! There is a lot of good information on them... Just gotta search search search. Ask the people working with them. I've spent a long time researching them and to my knowledge there are no complete care sheets. Your best bet is to search French/Mexican search engines. Maybe look up some Universities... I recall one of them (good luck) studying them.

I have found lineaticollis easy to raise much like any western gopher snake. They are not as tricky as deppei deppei, which I have breed in the past, mine where able to tolerate fairly heavy feedings and I kept them at ambient temps of my reptile room. In other words I raised them much like you would a corn snake with no problems, I have one female in her pre-egg laying shed now and hopefully another female will follow.

We provide them with a hot spot of 90 and access to temps in the 70's. If fed they bask up to 92F skin temp.

They feed like any gopher snake for us. Except the big ones eat only 6 months a year.

Standard cornsnake care will suffice. NO differences in our experience.
