Is Hardwood Mulch Ok To Use?

scatmelee May 05, 2008 11:38 PM

i've been using cypress as substrate forever, but the only place i could get it was at lowe's. now lowe's doesn't carry it any more. they do have hardwood mulch and it smells and looks like the cypress but i never used it before. did anybody else ever use this or know if it is safe?

Stick with Cypress or aspen. Go to walmart now they are getting in all the garden supplies and they sell the florida brand cypress which is the best.

i checked the wal-mart's too, nothing! it seems like evrywhere around me can't get it in stock or stopped carrying it completely. i was really wondering if there is a similar safe mulch, like cypress, that i can use? besides aspen, because i like to mist the entire enclosure. i aslo heard that licorice root mulch is actually cypress, is that true?
