Searching various sites, I've seen lots of photos of hypo and albino hondo hatchlings... Do mature adults tend to retain the same bright colors, or do they become increasingly dark and or faded?
Thanks!
Dan

Honestly it all depends on the snake. Most tangerine hypos stay very clean, some tri-color hypos tend to get a little black tipping.
In the same manner some albinos tend to get white tipping on the edge of their scales that would be black if they were not albinos. It pays to ask questions and see the parents.
Below is a 2005 female tangerine hypo that is actually better looking now at almost 5 feet long then she was as a baby.
A 2 year old male tangerine hypo that is brighter then when it hatched.
And two four foot albinos that are the same.
I also could post just as many pics of animals that ended up with a good amount of tipping.

Thanks for the reply and the photos; beautiful animals...!
Your advice on asking to see photos of the parents is well received. I really like the bright orange hondos with the gray complete bands. I would imagine that an animal with all complete, evenly spaced bands would command a premium.

Hey Dan
it is good advice to ask about the parents. Sometimes with albinos, they will get some white tipping but that can vary even from within the same clutch. If both albino parents don't have the white tipping, its fairly safe to say the hatchlings will stay clean as well.
Thanks for the post! You coincidentally posted a photo of what is the most attractive hondo morph for me, the albino tangerine... They are screamers, and I am having a difficult time deciding whether to get an albino Nelsoni or an albino tangerine Honduran.
Is that guy as tame as they get? My 9 y/o son loves my adult male albino Nelsoni; he would go crazy if we had a 5' or 6' long hondo that was just as striningly colorful, and a non biter!
Dan
Hey Dan,
My albino tangerines are very tame. Some were a little wild as hatchlings but quickly grew out of that by the end of their first year. They are great snakes, I'm sure you would enjoy working with them.
Dave
Beautiful animal! The photo probably doesn't do justice to its' true tangerine coloration. How big do the mature adults get?
Thanks!
Dan
Yeah, Dave has some great lookin' stuff, for sure!
Also, many hypo's, and especially "extreme" hypos like this example, will stay bright neon pumpkin orange, and SUPER clean and vivid throughout adulthood, displaying ZERO tipping on the scales.

A hypo with grey bands would most likely be an extreme, which yes would cost a bit more.
Even banding really shouldn't cost a premium. Some abberent patterned examples can be more desirable, as can a vanishing pattern. It's all up to the buyer and what they want.
