White plains vs. Hamburg Pa?

skyfire_1 May 06, 2008 07:24 AM

Does anyone have any experience with both the White plains reptile shows, and the Hamburg Pa. Reptile shows. They are both the same distance from my house (Rochester NY = 300 miles), and I was wondering which one would be the bigger bang for the buck.

Concidering the gas prices I am only going to drive to one show this year. I have already been to a White plains show which I really liked, but was wondering if the Hamburg one would be worth going to instead this year).

Thanks to anyone who answers.

I've been to both shows, though I've been to more Hamburgs than White Plains shows. I think the I like the White Plains show a little better. Hamburg tends to get really crowded really fast and the one White Plains show I went to wasn't nearly as claustrophobic. I think I kinda liked the more variety of the White Plains show too (no offense anyone who does the Hambrurg show )

I've been to both shows, and kthulhu is right. The Hamburg shows are extremely crowded and compact (smaller venue). As far as vendors go, they are both about the same: between 200-300 tables.

However, despite the crowd, I think the Hamburg Show is way better. As far as variety goes, I have to disagree, and say that I think the variety is much more intense at Hamburg. Hamburg IS a venomous show, White Plains is not. White Plains has multiple restrictions that Hamburg does not (and if I am correct, White Plans has a new restriction where you cannot even have Burmese or Reticulated Pythons in the building). I'm also pretty sure White Plains cannot have mammals.

Now, if your talking variety of BALL PYTHON MORPHS (considering it is a ball python forum), I would have to say that I'm torn -- I'm not really sure which show has more balls.

But as far as general variety of REPTILES (not just ball python morphs), Hamburg has a larger variety, hands down.

Just my opinion, to each their own

Yep, you're right. Hamburg does have a more variety of differenct species and checking out all the venomous and large constrictors is pretty fun. I really meant White Plains had a better selection of ball morphs, but come to think of it, I've seen some cool stuff at Hamburg too!

I attend both shows....Hamburg has a larger venue as well as a much larger variety of animals for sale. My pick is Hamburg even though it is a much farther drive for me than White Plains.

I go to Hamburg and have been to WP...I don't drive 3 hrs to WP very often........Hamburg is 55 minutes there and 60 or so home.....

bang for the buck........

better time and tlaking all day WP
more snakes for less money...Ham.

...you can get more wholesale deals at Hamburg I think......

all you have to do is ask some people and they treat you real nice like that......LOL......

.buying is so easy.......the selling is the hard part......
