I was asked a question yesterday regarding the contact of snakes with pregnant women and babies, to which i didn't have an answer, can some one advise please.

Question was, Why can't women and babies have contact, or touch snakes when pregnant.

As I understand it, the risk of salmonella is always present in reptiles so special care should be taken around young children. I guess pregnant women fall into that catagory as well.
