Very clean Pastel female

anthony james mc May 06, 2008 05:58 PM

I made my own line of 'blonde' Pastels, I put a Pastel het Hypo into a very light female and got a few in the clutch that have only gotten better over time, knowing what the female has produced since that time I have a hunch something is going on with that 'normal' female I used. Anyway I put the camera away for now, hope you liked the added pics .. Anthony McCain Reptiles.

I'll have some stuff to put on there this year Chris, things are a little behind here this year and I'm not really sure what this season will unfold out here.. I had alot of cool stuff last year and kinda think this year for me won't be as good as last.. Alot of the stuff I really want to make will take me a couple more years of breeding anyway , at that point things will have evolved to a different level , then the fun really begins! I'll keep pushing ahead regardless. Actually if every year was a "home run" we wouldn't really appreciate it as much and would expect to much out of the animals as they aren't machines, so a slow year now will help make my 09 season that much better, I hope! Later, Anthony McCain.

Anthony, just a question im not trying to be rude or anything just wondering. Anyone that has experience can answer this too. How can you call it "your own line" of pastels when you used a pastel from another line to start it? (unless you imported the original pastel)

anthony james mc May 06, 2008 07:58 PM

I could call it 'my line" if I continue to make Pastels that look like that one (no brown out setting in) , in other words it would be "adding" another gene in there to 'clean up' the existing line of Pastel , and based on the "normal" female that made that snake I think she is some sort of codom/dominant hypo. I'll be breeding some other morphs to that "normal" to help isolate what gene she is... My point really was that I think if a person does the selective breeding right and adds the right genes that he or she can evolve their own line of Pastels that breed out just as nicely ,possibly even better than the existing lines we currently have, that was my real point when I wrote that post.. I think that Pastel is the start of that process for me and with more selective breeding I think I could create a line that breeds out and produces babies just like that one.. Thanks, Anthony McCain Reptiles...
