Hello
I have seen many red iguanas on the classified section. I have noticed a difference. Some reds have a green underbelly and some are completely "red". Why are they different? Thanks

I don;t know about Red Iguanas, except that they're pretty nice looking! It's probably locale differences. Also, when males go into breeding season, they turn colors and some get orange bodied with green bellies and legs.

I have seen those red igs with green belies, though. They're nice, too. Maybe someone will chime in!

From my understanding most red iguanas have green bellies as babies and as they grow into adults they lose the green belly. My red ig Rusty still has a green belly. Here is a pic of him.

Thanks for the reply.
Do you know why some have green bellies and some don't? Mine does not have any green at all. Just wondering....

Hey
I think mine is between 5-7 months old. What is the disposition of yours? Here's a pic from this morning. I took it as I turned on the lights/heat. He is a little dark but once he warms up, he becomes a brighter color.

Mine tends to be phsyco when you first pic him up, but then calms down after I have him in my hands. How is yours disposition? Mine i think is around 7-9 months. Don't know for sure because I purchased him from a lady off of craigslist. Here is a pic of mine in the bath. Keep the pics coming. I love seeing other Red Igs!
