Guy, I'm terribly sorry about Stevie

PHEve May 06, 2008 09:53 PM

So sorry buddy about Stevey getting away. I think he will be okay as another friend of mine lives in Illinois, and he can tell you there are C. collaris in the state of Illinois they do fine. :0) So maybe he can evenually hook up with some foxy chick of a collared and raise a family.

Don't feel too bad, it happens. I had a female bicinctores jump out of a sunning cage last summer, luckily I handle mine so much she just sat there and allowed me to pick her up, but I was a wreck thinking what if she takes off.

Is your yard all open into other yards .... closed off... or what?

Also as I told you through email, sorry about your posts, anytime you are interested in obtaining lizards from anyone just remember to email / ask privately and you should be fine.

I hope you feel better soon. Hopefully he will do great, he has many months of warmer weather to get used to everything then he can brumate somewhere when it gets cold.

thanks eve that helps alot... i felt so bad because i thought he was going to have a rough night tonight, but i think he can make it... i think im gonna have a rougher night then he does. thinking that he will be happier in the wild has made this easier. i know hes happier, because otherwise why would he have run away. My backyard is fenced but its losely fenced thats how he got away. he went under a little hole in the fence, and that was it good bye stevie... i looked for a long time and tried to think like he would. he would probably hide. but then he needs to bask because its only 80 degrees today?? i didnt see himn though... well all i can do is wish him good luck and move on. i still have my Lizzy though i feel fortunate about that.

yeah i know im kicking myself over losing my lizard but im curious how its effecting my female? I realize reptiles are not menogamous and its not like she lost a lover or anything, but she had to have lost a companion. someone that she could relate to and stuff. would she experience loneliness, or just shrug it off, and wait for the next male to come along. collareds are somewhat social right? i always assued they are ive seen some pretty social interaction between my two lizards. If she does become "lonely" what should I do, or do lizards not get lonely? I am paying more attention to her them when i had both of them...

I like to have more than one in a cage but they are also fine alone. She will be alright, and soon you will find a new male to keep her company.
