bull questions

geckoejon May 07, 2008 07:56 PM

i am just a little curious about my male hypo bull's activity lately. he is an '07 aprox 4ft and very healthy imo. just in the last month he has had an incredible amount of activity (crawling, moving substrate, ect) he also has been a lot more edgy when i try to hold him. all he wants to do is crawl away. i've had him since he was a hatchling (just under a year) and and seemed relatively mellow. all of a sudden he seems like he has had 16 cups of coffee and just can't slow down! he's not aggresive. never hisses or strikes, just wired. anyone else ever had this? i was wondering if it's normal? this is my first time raising bulls from hatchlings.
also, are the first 2 years the fastest growing times for bulls? at a year he's 4 ft. is that about average? just curious... thanks.....

The male sounds about right for breeding season. I see increased activity from my males this time of year also.
The 2 years and 4 ft also sounds about right. The first 2-3 years is when they grow the most. This male I posted is 3 years old and about 5 ft.

I agree with Ken. Bulls can grow at warp speed and at his size he may very well be looking for love! I bet you see him settle down in a month or so. Sounds like you're doing great with him. Take care.
