I went there today and got a grey banded, a durango mt , and a variable for about 45 a piece. they said they were all feeding , only the variable had been sexed and is a male.

Both of the rodent places there had sold out of the frozen pinkies by 10:30 or so , So i had to buy the smallest live pinkies they had , I got 20 and they are all still alive

Should I kill them all and freeze them now? or let some live and try feeding in the next few days ? is there any chance that they will need to be alive for the grey banded etc to eat? or should i just freeze them all now
I plan to suffocate them in a jar since i dont have any c02.

Any suggestions ?

Try feeding them the next day/evening (if you don't know when they ate last). The pinkies will still be alive. I would go ahead and freeze the rest of the pinkies (that are left). Good luck with your new arrivals!

Yes,freezing them would be the best answer. Suffocating them in a jar will not work as fast as you think and they will starve to death before they run out of oxygen. Also the longer you keep them alive the more the nutritional value diminshes. The pinks probably don't have that white stomach that shows the milks. This is important when feeding your snakes. A pink is mostly water anyway and offers little in nutritional value except for the mothers milk which you can see for the first 12 hrs after they are taken away from the nursing mother. After that it dissapates.
Good Luck

Ok thanks for the help both of ya. I took one that had died already and put it in with the variable kingsnake and turned out the lights and left and came back about 10 minutes later and he had it in his mouth all the way and was swallowing it good, and hes the smaller of the 3 snakes

I put a live pinkie in with the grey banded and watched him with a redlight . he came up to it and watched and smelled it a while and when the pinkie moved it scared him and he went and hid and then snuck back up around the pinkie from the other side but he moved again and scared him , he looked at him again later and put his face right up to him . he seems to maybe be scared of him , but getting bolder

The i placed anohter dead one in with the durango, but he hasnt come out of burying in the aspen chips much,

What i did to kill the pinkies was to put them in a small half pint mason jar and use my sears vacu seal attashment for mason jars and sucked all the air out sealing the lid and put it immediatly in the freezer, hopefully it sucked the air right out there lungs and they diddnt suffer as much

I know c02 would be better but i didnt have any and i was in a pinch since i had expected to get frozen ones

IF they were sold out of frozen pinkies, 1 and 1 half hours into a 2 day show, there must be room in the market for mice breeders, people were lined up buying live ones, they were doing a big business

The grey banded is the most active and biggest, (close to 12 inches but skinny) he expolors a lot and gets up in the air a lot, sticks his head up looking around the top of the shoebox cage

They all went for a swim in there waterbowl soon after i put them in there new homes.

Thanks again for the help
