What is the best way to clean large pieces of lumber? I know small ones to bake in the oven but what if to big?

I don't understand the need to "Clean" wood...please expand

Clean in reference to remove dirt, or clean as in sterile....

If your talking big tree branches you can spray them down with a bleach solution and let them bake in garbage bags for a few days.

I myself don't care about such things, nature is nature....so long as they are clean of destructive pests, termites, ants, stinging insects.
