As you have found, mites are not easily gotten rid of and bleach will NOT do the job. Go HERE for detailed mite erradication instructions and order in some provent-a-mite.

I've gotten in mites on a few incoming animals and have been able to contain and erradicate them following these instructions using the recommended products.

washing and bleaching the cage will only kill mites in the cage, possibly the eggs..it won't kill mites on your snake or elsewhere in the snake room. Provent a Mite is very effective. You can spray the cage itself with it...let air dry, add in water and snake...repeat once every month for 2-3 months... After three months if you see no signs of mites on your snake..that should be the end of them.

ALso...when you get new snakes, no matter the source...spray their cage with Provent a Mite..air dry and have it ready for the snake. This ensures no incidental mites get into your collection and spread before you notice.

Find a bottle of reptile relief that stuff has worked wonders for me, but be careful with the bleach you have to make sure that its all out.
