advice on business?

kcpits May 10, 2008 06:39 PM

Hello all,
Does anyone have any advice on how I can establish my breeding collection as a business? I would like to be able to use the space and some of the cost as tax deductions. Any information will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Joel

Joel,
I would start by getting a sales permit for your state and registering with your local county tax office. You can even go the LLC or Inc. route as well. Good luck.

It should be the opposite. IMO. Why would you want them taxing you on every animal you sell???

You first have to look into what type of business is best suited for what you have planned. A simple sole proprietorship, or DBA (Doing Business As) is probably one of the most common ways to go about it. It goes up from there. Different types of business permits offer different levels of benefits, and or protections.

Go to your county tax assessors office, and they probably be glad to give you a stack of papers and explain things.

LOL Maybe because the law says yer supposed to report all earnings? I mean, you like having paved roads to drive to work on don't you? If you have an emergency, you expect someone to show up. Right?

Taxes might be evil, but they are pretty necessary.

I would talk to an accountant. It's the best way to go and they can tell you the best way to incorporate etc. It will save you a lot of time and stress.
