The Best Time !!

It is a slow day for me to day as I recover from a hole day with 8th. Grade kids at a local middle school were I was giving reptile demos to 4 classes each 1.5 hours long .I give these talks quite often but this group was overall a grate bunch . I was really surprised at there over all awareness of all the uproar in the press and the changes in state and federal lows regarding the keeping and importation of reptiles .There were several kids that were interested in reptiles but very scared of snakes but I set a new personal record for converting peoples fear of snakes , it was grate , to see the look in there eyes as they discovered they liked what they were feeling in there hands and there harts , that reptiles ,mostly snakes are not the cold and slimy critters they were taught .we had so much fun with the hands on part of the demo . We had hand sanitizer for them to use before and after handling them . As to protect both the snakes and kids , that is something that is not only very important but got a laugh from the kids when they asked why they had to use it before they could touch the reptiles ,so I told them I dident won’t them to get cooties . I think that every one that has the reptiles and the time and knowledge should go to a school and volunteer there time to share the wonderful world of reptiles . David

That's a neat thing you did. For my son's 4th grade class, I brought in a clutch of eggs that were a day away from hatching. I set them up in an extra hovabator I had around and let the children watch the eggs pip. The looks on the children's faces when I explained the process was priceless. (Thanks to Tosha for the great idea.)
