What incubation medium do you use?

pek296 May 11, 2008 12:14 AM

I'm curious on what kind of medium(s) you guys use to incubate your eggs on, and the type of incubator used. Thermal air or Fan forced incubator? Also, what do you guys think about Hatch Rite? Has anyone ever used it?

I use Perlite with great success, as for an incubator I made my own out of a 3 gallon bucket and so far am very happy with it.

Bucket incubator? That's interesting... Care to elaborate on it?
How do you prepare the perlite? Do you use a 1:1 ratio?

To be honest I have not preparedness rutien for the Perlite. I just put a little water in it and it seems to hold its self at € in the incubator. I take a brick, break it in half and set the half's in a bucket, put a submersible fish tank heater between the bricks and fill the bucket with water just another the bricks, Set the egg containers on the bricks and adjust the heater until the gauge in the egg containers reach the desired temp and put the lid on the bucket "NOTE" lid has several holes in it and the lids of the egg containers have a little hole as well.
