We have two emeralds that have recently become non aboreal, their appetite has also gone down since this. they both just lay on the bottome of the tank. any advice?

Is the bottom of the enclosure wet? What is the ambient humidity and cage temps? Sounds like they are either seeking higher humidity and/or lower temps. I hope they are not caged together (unless you are trying to breed and know they are opposite sex). Subs and adults of the same sex will often stress if in the same cage, but usually only the submissive one will go to ground.

The cage has a water dish on the bottom, and the tank is misted daily. Temp and humidity are at normal levels for emeralds, and do not fluctuate too much. They are in the same tank, a very large tank for them to have room. I do not believe it is a dominace issue however, becuase they are always next to each other. If one is up, the other is up right beside it, and likewise on the bottom.
i had the same situation with my eb, make sure the purch is the right size for the snake i increased the size and the problem went away
