Shock and Awe!! DUW

MikeRoberts May 11, 2008 07:24 PM

SHOCKED to find out my 100% het albino female was just normal

But in AWE of my new baby boas born on mothers day at 3am. There was 14 live( 7 hypos, 7 normals) 2 stills(both hypos) and 2 slugs. The nice thing is about 50% of the litter came out with some nice stipes on their tails like their dad.

The moral of this story is ALWAYS by your hets from someone you can trust.

Thanx

Thanks! Here is a pic of the Male Hypo's tail.

I think I will be holding back a few to breed back to him

Neat looking bunch of babies you got there. Your male looks pretty nice. I'm wondering if there is any relationship between him and My male DH. They sure do have similar tails...

Not one of my babies, (out of 56 sired by him) got his stripe though. LOL

Good looking babies though. Sorry about the albino part not hitting. Hopefully it's just the luck of the draw, even though you'd expect to see at least one in 14.

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry about the het, man!
Did you contact the seller?
Great litter though!

Bummer on no albinos. Is the male a visual? If not you still have hope, one of my friends had a het to het breeding this year (she proved them herself previously) and she didn't get any albinos in the mix (it was a good sized litter). So I hope maybe you just had horrible odds.

I'm sure you have more history but from the pics and your words in this post.....

Male Visual hypo (must be a DH Sunglow since you were expecting albinos)

Female Het albino.

Unless you know the male is a het from prior breeding trials or other knowledge, either or both could end up not being het for albino.

Also, you could have hit the reverse jackpot and simply got no albinos in the group, low odds for that but not unheard of.

Congrats on the babies, they look great!!!

Nice looking litter. I know of a breeding - het x pos het that had 24 babies and only one was albino-luckily or it would've been thought to not have proven a het. so how well do you know the one who produced the supposed het?
