Get rid of AOL! Lousy service and a royal pain in rear!
I had AOL years ago, and decided to cancel my service.
I notified them via e-mail and by phone. Two years later
AOL service charges mysteriously started to appear on my monthly credit card bill. When I contacted them, they said that I had not given them the required written notification to cancel my service. When I asked them why my service was canceled and that I had not been billed for 20 months, but started to bill me again after 20 months, they had no answer. Needless to say I had to contest the bill with my credit card company, and it was promptly removed. My theory is that they have so many customers that some of there canceled customers don't notice that they are being billed for service that they are not receiving. I'm sure there are people out there that don't notice the bill for months or even years. It's not just identity theft from individual scum bags that we have to be aware of, but also theft, or false billing from major U.S. corporations. I'm sure this sort of thing happens far more often than most people realize. The sad thing is that this can tarnish your credit if not taken care of.
Get rid of AOL and monitor your credit card closely or have your card # changed! Security my @ss!

good piece of mind to cancel of coarse they have been billing me via CC fer 8-10 yrs.and now they tell me all new vista ready versions of AOL are incompatible with Windows 98 sometimes it takes 2-13 times to log onto KS it either logs on or redials VERY FRusterating ...Try to be true to your school but like Phil says they are "accidental crooks"due to lack of staff?or at the board meeting they decide COOL mo money
