I have no pics, as I haven't seen them yet, but..
Newspaper article (Daily Breeze) today in my neck of the woods near Harbor City, Cal stating that there is a breeding and thriving population of banded watersnakes in a polluted but nevertheless precious little wildlife area deep in the heart of the low-income part of Harbor City. (Forget the drive-by shootings there, the pit bulls and the non-spayed or neutered cats giving birth..)
The waterway has trash floating in it, and right across the congested street is Machado Lake where the famous released alligator Reggie eluded experts and survived for almost two years before being captured alive and well.
Anyway, the article was a segue into Burmese pythons invading the southern US because of what is happening in Florida.
The clear message to readers of that newspaper: reptile keepers are often irresponsible and have endangered people and pets and have enabled invasive species to take hold, and now that the climate is changing, snakes are surviving in places they couldn't before.
Anyway, has anyone seen these watersnakes?
