Very Pink Preshed = Light Underneath?

SPJ01 May 12, 2008 09:03 PM

Just wondering if I am correct in this.

I'll use a pied as an example of what I am thinking.
When they first hatch, they are pink where the white is. When they shed, the pink is gone and the nice white is there.

Say a BP is extremely pink when it hatches, would that be a good indication that it will be nice and light once it sheds?

From what I have seen of Baby pics. The Calico's/Sugars have a very pink appearance to them. Obviously they loose it when they get older. But IMO they look very pink when born.

Anyone else have an idea?
Here is a photo of the 3 from the clutch that prompted me to wonder this since the father was extremely light.

Not sure what you mean about pieds... they are pure white when they hatch....
