Bolivian short tails

wvherp May 13, 2008 07:37 AM

Hi all. Can someone give me some information on Bolivian Short Tails? How big do they normally get, temperaments, feeding, heating, etc.?

I currently own colubrids and am looking at either a Dumeril's or Bolivian short tail. Don't really want a boa that will be over 7 feet if I can help it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
Joel

I would recommend getting the Amarali. I've had dumerils and
currently have a pair of Bolivians. I liked the dumerils, but
he was a much more reclusive boa. The amarali are my favorites
right now. They are thicker than normal boas, but they have a
slower metabolism so they eat less frequently.

They are really gorgeous boas. I have a nice female who is right
about to drop any day now. The anticipation is driving me crazy.

Beautiful snakes! My brother has a pair that may or may not have bred. They are gorgeous. I am hoping to get one from him. About how big do they get? His are about 4-5 feet. Is that average or do they tend to get bigger?
Thanks

My male is about 5 feet, the female is a little over 5 feet,
but I've seen plenty of pics of nice silverbacks around or over
6 feet posted on this board...

You should check out Barry Miller's site, he's got some very
impressive amarali beauties...
